Lawrence police have canceled a Silver Alert for a missing Lawrence woman after she was found dead in Wyandotte County.

Police were seeking the public’s assistance Friday in locating 71-year-old Viki Peterson, but shortly after the Silver Alert was issued her body was found.

“Family has been notified and no criminal activity is suspected in the case at this time,” police said.

Peterson’s family last spoke to her Thursday afternoon. Her phone shared her location with family, and its last recorded location was a field in Leavenworth County, but neither her phone nor her blue Jeep was located nearby, police said.
