A Kansas City man who has been charged in Douglas County District Court with two sex crimes was arrested Monday morning.
The man, Daunte Neal Alaiwat, 21, of Kansas City, Missouri, faces one count of rape by force or fear and one count of aggravated sodomy, both felonies, according to charging documents. The charges are in connection with an incident on Oct. 15, 2022. The charges were filed in December 2023. It wasn’t clear where he was arrested, and no details about the alleged crimes were available Monday.
Alaiwat was booked into the Douglas County Jail around 6 a.m. Monday. He has retained Leawood attorney Thomas Bath, and he was released Monday afternoon after posting a $10,000 cash or surety bond, according to court records. Alaiwat is next scheduled to appear in court on Feb. 21 for a status conference.
