The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office is investigating after a woman was dropped off at LMH Health with a gunshot wound.
Lawrence police responded to LMH Saturday evening sometime after 7:30 p.m. to a report of a woman who had been left there with a gunshot wound that was not believed to be life threatening. Upon further investigation into where in the county the woman had been shot, the officers turned the investigation over to Douglas County sheriff’s deputies, said sheriff’s spokesman George Diepenbrock in an email.
The Lawrence Police Department posted on social media on Saturday that they were looking for a “good Samaritan” who was the driver of a white Cadillac SUV that dropped the woman off. The driver responded to the post by contacting sheriff’s deputies on Sunday, Diepenbrock said.
The incident remains under investigation, and the office is not releasing additional information at this time, Diepenbrock said.
