A 45-year-old woman has been charged with multiple crimes in connection with a fight at an apartment in northern Lawrence.
The woman, Mandy Dreiling, of Lawrence, faces two counts of aggravated assault and one count of interference with law enforcement, all felonies, plus one misdemeanor count of domestic battery in connection with an incident that occurred Sunday, when Dreiling was arrested in the 200 block of North Michigan Street. Two people are listed in the charging document as victims of aggravated assault with a knife, and one of those is listed as the victim of domestic battery.
A spokeswoman for the Lawrence Police Department, Laura McCabe, said the fight involved several people, many of whom were staying in the same apartment together.
McCabe said one person “grabbed a knife, and there were some minor lacerations as a result, but nobody was seriously injured.”
The investigation resulted in officers taking two people to the hospital for mental health support.
“The aggressor was taken into custody and was combative during the interaction with officers and hospital staff, but ultimately safely booked into the Douglas County Correctional Facility,” McCabe said.
Dreiling has been released on a $15,000 own-recognizance bond and is next scheduled to appear in court on Jan. 8.
