A driver struck a mail truck north of Lawrence on Thursday, sending a mail carrier to the hospital and briefly closing a rural road.
Douglas County Sheriff’s Office spokesman George Diepenbrock said in a news release that at about 1 p.m., a 2008 Hyundai Accent hit the mail truck in the 2000 block of East 1400 Road, north of Midland Junction and near the Jefferson County line.
The mail carrier was taken to a hospital with injuries that were not believed to be life-threatening, Diepenbrock said. The driver of the Hyundai was not injured.
The road was closed between its 2000 and 2100 blocks until about 1:55 p.m. after the crash, Diepenbrock told the Journal-World.
