Lawrence police are seeking a suspect in a domestic violence “incident” Sunday morning at an apartment in Lawrence, but they are providing very little detail about the alleged crime.
“We’ve identified him as the suspect, have probable cause for his arrest, and issued an alert to area agencies,” police said Tuesday in a news release about the suspect, Cole Brings Plenty. Police provided a photo of Brings Plenty but no other identifying information.
Brings Plenty’s family has reported him as a missing person.
According to a missing-person flyer, Brings Plenty is a 27-year-old Native American male with long black hair and brown eyes. He is around 5 feet, 10 inches tall and weighs approximately 150 pounds.
Officers responded to reports of a female screaming for help, but the suspect fled before officers arrived, the release said. The investigation identified Brings Plenty, and traffic cameras reportedly showed him leaving the city immediately after the incident, traveling southbound on U.S. Highway 59.
“This incident involves allegations of domestic violence, which limits the amount of information we can share to protect the victim. No further details will be provided,” the release said.
Brings Plenty was last known to be driving a 2005 Ford Explorer bearing Kansas license plate 368PXB. If you see him or his vehicle, police ask that you call 911, or you can make an anonymous tip to Crime Stoppers of Lawrence and Douglas County at (785) 843-8477.
