A Lawrence man was arrested Wednesday and charged with possessing and trading in child pornography.

The man, Cooper Wayne Lyle, 29, is charged in Douglas County District Court with one count of sexual exploitation of a child and one count of internet trading in child pornography, both felonies, according to charging documents. The charges are in connection with an incident on May 7, 2022.

Lyle was arrested on a warrant at around 4:15 p.m. Wednesday by Douglas County sheriff’s deputies. He was released on a $15,000 surety bond shortly after his arrest. He is next scheduled to appear in court on Oct. 18, according to court records.

The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office declined to release Lyle’s booking photo.
