Lawrence police seek public’s help identifying burglary suspect accused of inappropriately touching a woman in her sleep

The Lawrence Police Department asked for the public’s help identifying a man suspected of entering an apartment and touching a woman inappropriately.

Police responded to the 2200 block of West 26th Street at 4 a.m. Wednesday to a report of a 21-year-old woman who was awakened by a man in her bedroom. The suspect had fled the scene before police were called, according to a social media post from the department.

The suspect is believed to be a white male who was wearing khaki-colored cargo shorts and no shirt. Police are asking for anyone in the area with doorbell or surveillance cameras who may have footage between 3 and 4 a.m. to contact dispatch at 785-832-7509, or residents can submit information anonymously by calling Crime Stoppers of Lawrence and Douglas County at 785-843-8477.
