A 49-year-old Lawrence man was stunned with a Taser and arrested Sunday morning after allegedly brandishing a knife while demanding that officers shoot him, the Lawrence Police Department said on social media.

According to a Facebook post by the Lawrence Police Department on Sunday, officers were dispatched to an apartment complex at 1517 W. Ninth St. around 1 a.m., on a report that a man had kicked in his neighbor’s door. That address, which is listed in the jail booking log, is for the Tamarind Apartments complex. Officers found a man in an apartment and attempted to serve him with a notice to appear in court, the post read. The post alleges that the man then brandished a knife and advanced toward officers while “demanding that they shoot him.” Officers used a Taser to subdue the man and arrest him, the post read. The post also alleged that the man may have been intoxicated during the incident.

According to the post, nobody was seriously injured. The Douglas County Jail booking log shows that Timothy Foust, 49, was arrested on suspicion of aggravated assault of a law enforcement officer and criminal damage to property and was being held at the Douglas County Jail without bond.
