Story updated at 6:54 p.m. Tuesday:

After asking for the public’s help, Lawrence police say they’ve identified and interviewed a person alleged to have stolen items from a residence while the occupants of the home slept, and that the items have been returned.

The department posted a request on social media with a photo of a person that appears to be an older woman with short hair, wearing a long chain and sleeveless shirt. The woman is carrying a bag of items that she is alleged to have taken on Saturday morning from a home near the intersection of 10th and Alabama streets, and the items reported stolen include a laptop and several video games, said Lawrence Police Department spokesperson Laura McCabe in an email to the Journal-World.

Later in the day on Tuesday, the police department updated its post with the following statement: “Identified, contacted, interviewed, and property returned. An affidavit will be submitted to the DA for charging consideration.”
