Lawrence is expected to get 1 to 2 inches of snow on Saturday, much less than the nearly half a foot that the National Weather Service is expecting in other parts of the state.
Meteorologist Brandon Drake with the National Weather Service’s Topeka office said snow should begin falling off and on at around 3 p.m. Saturday and last through midnight.
“Lawrence probably won’t see as much snow,” Drake said, adding that areas farther west, such as Manhattan, could see 4 to 6 inches of accumulation.
Temperatures will be in the mid-30s when the snow begins and will drop into the mid-20s overnight, Drake said.
Drake also said that Sunday is expected to be dry with temperatures back in the 30s and winds gusting as high as 30 mph. He said temperatures should climb back into the 40s on Tuesday.
