Law enforcement is investigating in central Lawrence after a man suffered life-threatening injuries in a shooting Wednesday evening, according to Lawrence police.

At 6:55 p.m., emergency responders were called to the 2400 block of Ousdahl Road, and Lawrence police Sgt. Drew Fennelly told the Journal-World that they found a man on the scene who’d been shot. He said the man was taken by ambulance to an area hospital with life-threatening injuries.

At about 10:10 p.m., Fennelly said the man who was shot had been stabilized.

Witnesses told police that the injured man arrived at the scene in a vehicle, Fennelly said, and officers were still trying to determine the exact location of the shooting and identify a suspect on Wednesday evening. Fennelly said police were asking anyone who heard gunshots between 6:45 and 6:55 p.m. Wednesday to call dispatch at 785-832-7509.

According to emergency radio traffic, the caller who reported the shooting said the man showed up at the scene and told the caller he’d been shot in the chest. Scanner traffic also indicated that witnesses saw two people fleeing the scene as police arrived.
