A shooting was reported just before midnight on May 1, 2023, in the 100 block of Arkansas Street.

A 33-year-old man is recovering after being shot Monday night in a mobile home park near LMH Health.

Lawrence police responded around 11:45 p.m. to the 100 block of Arkansas Street for a person who had been shot, Sgt. Drew Fennelly said in an email to the Journal-World. The man was taken to an area trauma center for injuries that were not believed to be life-threatening, Fennelly said.

Officers identified the location of the shooting and processed the scene for forensic evidence. No suspects have been arrested, and the investigation is ongoing, Fennelly said.

Emergency scanner traffic during the incident indicated that the man had suffered injuries to his leg and his ear and that the shooter was riding a bicycle.

Tuesday morning, police tape was blocking off a mobile home near the entrance of the park.
