The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office and Kansas Highway Patrol were advising motorists on Monday afternoon to avoid the 800 block of North 1800 Road after a single-vehicle crash involving a semitrailer.

The driver of the truck has been transported to an area hospital after suffering injuries that are not believed to be life-threatening, said sheriff’s spokesman George Diepenbrock in a news release around 3:20 p.m. The semitrailer was hauling a 9,500-gallon tank of propane. The tank was not damaged during the collision, Diepenbrock said.

Drivers should use an alternate route Monday afternoon as law enforcement has closed North 1800 Road in the area between Kansas Highway 10 and East 800 Road, also known as the Farmers’ Turnpike, until the vehicle and propane are safely removed.
