Lawrence police on Monday identified a 19-year-old University of Kansas student who was found dead Saturday morning at a sorority house as Piper Alexis Carter, of Overland Park.

“We still do not have any indication of foul play, and are awaiting the results from the coroner’s investigation,” police said Monday.

According to a statement from police over the weekend, officers and emergency medical personnel were dispatched to Alpha Chi Omega sorority, 1500 Sigma Nu Place, at 10:30 a.m. Saturday. On the scene, they found the student deceased in her bed.

The statement said that police were investigating but that the death did not appear suspicious. Police did not release the identity of the student at the time because her family had not yet been notified.

“Our hearts are with Piper’s family and friends who are grieving and processing this sudden and tragic event,” police said Monday.
