One person is in critical condition following a reported vehicle vs. pedestrian crash in northwestern Douglas County early Sunday.

Douglas County first responders were called to the crash scene on U.S. Highway 40 near E. 78th Road in Big Springs just after 2:30 a.m.

A Lawrence-Douglas County Fire Medical ambulance transported the injured person to Stormont Vail Health in Topeka.

Deputies have a stretch of Highway 40 closed through Big Springs as they investigate the crash.
