A second man has been arrested and charged in connection with an alleged kidnapping and armed robbery of a 65-year-old man.
Mustafa Darrell Muhammad-Springs, 19, of Kansas City, Kansas, is charged in Douglas County District Court with one felony count each of aggravated kidnapping, aggravated robbery with a firearm and aggravated burglary, according to charging documents.
The charges relate to an incident on or about May 29 when police found a 65-year-old man in a nearby city — they did not identify the city — and the man said he had been kidnapped from his residence in the 4600 block of Nicklaus Drive in Lawrence, as the Journal-World reported.
Another man, Tahreon Lamont Allen, 20, of Lawrence, is also charged with felony counts of kidnapping, robbery and burglary, but also faces an additional felony count of possession of a firearm by a felon. Allen is also charged with one count each of felony burglary and theft involving the same victim in connection with an incident on Oct. 21, 2022.
Allen was convicted of two felony counts of aggravated burglary and one felony count of aggravated battery in November 2020, when he was a juvenile, according to court records.
Muhammad-Springs was taken into custody in Johnson County on Wednesday afternoon and transferred to the Douglas County Jail.
Both Allen and Muhammad-Springs are being held on a $1 million cash or surety bond each. Muhammad-Springs appeared in court Thursday and is next scheduled to appear on June 28. Allen is next scheduled in court for a status update on July 12.
