A Lawrence man has been charged in Douglas County District Court with raping a 13-year-old girl last year.

Kyle Tredell Brass, 37, faces one felony count of rape, according to charging documents. The charge is an off-grid felony; if convicted, Brass could be sentenced to life in prison. The incident is alleged to have happened on Dec. 25, 2022.

Brass was arrested in connection with the charge around 3:20 p.m. Thursday by Douglas County sheriff’s deputies and made his first appearance in court on Friday. He is currently being held on a $150,000 cash or surety bond and is next scheduled to appear in court on June 21.
