Douglas County DA to speak on prosecutorial discretion at public event

The Lawrence/Douglas County chapter of Women for Kansas is hosting a public event next month featuring Douglas County District Attorney Suzanne Valdez.

Valdez, a Democrat who was elected in 2020 and a former University of Kansas law professor, is scheduled to discuss “Doing Justice: The Need for Prosecutorial Discretion” at 10:30 a.m. Feb. 4 at the Lawrence Public Library, 707 Vermont St.

Women for Kansas is a nonpartisan civic organization. The event is free and open to the public.
