A Lawrence man was stunned and arrested on suspicion of aggravated assault after he allegedly brandished a firearm at his former place of employment on Friday.

Lawrence police responded just before 1 p.m. on Friday to a business in the 1100 block of Horizon Drive to a report of a disturbance with weapons. Witnesses told police that a man came to the business looking for a woman he believed to be responsible for his recent termination from the business and showed the witnesses that he had a gun. The woman was not present and the man left, according to a release from the Lawrence Police Department.

Police attempted to contact the man via telephone before confronting the man in a hallway in an apartment complex. When police made contact with the man he allegedly physically resisted arrest and attempted to go back inside an apartment before an officer deployed a Taser. Police were able to detain the man without further incident and found a gun police believe to be the weapon used during the incident, according to the release.

Marquis Deshan Lee, 48, was arrested around 1:30 p.m. Friday in the 1400 block of Coventry Manor on suspicion of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, criminal possession of a weapon, and interference with a law enforcement officer, according to the jail’s booking log.

Lee is being held on a $500,000 cash or surety bond. Charges have yet to be filed with the Douglas County District Attorney’s Office.
