A Lawrence Police Department patrol vehicle is pictured June 28, 2022.
With the assistance of doorbell camera footage, Lawrence police were able to apprehend a woman suspected of burglarizing a resident’s home in central Lawrence.
The resident notified police at 1:23 p.m. Tuesday that a female had just entered her house in the 1100 block of Ohio Street and had stolen items from inside, according to Sgt.Drew Fennelly.
“Thanks to video footage from a doorbell camera, the victim was able to very quickly provide a description of the suspect, and a responding officer found the suspect walking near 11th Street and Tennessee Street just two minutes after dispatch received the call,” Fennelly said in an email to the Journal-World.
The suspect, a 29-year-old Lawrence woman, was arrested without incident on suspicion of aggravated burglary and theft, and most of the stolen property was recovered, Fennelly said.
