The Lawrence Police Department has placed a bin in its lobby to collect diapers for families in need throughout the holiday season.
The Holiday Diaper Drive is in partnership with the Elizabeth B. Ballard Community Center, according to a release from the department. The bin is set up at police headquarters, 5100 Overland Drive, and donations can be made between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. throughout December.
Monetary donations can be made to the center using this link or through Venmo at BallardCenter1965, according to the release. Or residents can donate food to the Ballard Center pantry by calling to set up an appointment at 785-842-0729.
“This is a time of year to celebrate family and friends and especially those little ones,” Chief Rich Lockhart said. “We hope to take away at least one concern, an essential item we know is a big expense for many families, so maybe parents are able to breathe a little easier this holiday season and enjoy some time together.”
