Lawrence Police are investigating human remains that were found in a wooded area, according to a news release Monday from the police department.

The skeletal remains were found south of Bob Billings Parkway just east of Kansas Highway 10, the release said. The man who found the remains called police from a convenience store around 12:30 p.m. Monday.

“Evidence allows us to feel confident they are human remains, but no foul play is suspected at this time,” the release said. “We’re working with forensic experts to try to identify the victim as the investigation continues.”
