A Topeka man was charged Thursday in Douglas County District Court with aggravated sexual battery.
Gregory Allan Pagan, 46, faces one felony count of aggravated sexual battery for allegedly touching another person when that person was overcome by force or fear, according to charging documents. The charge relates to an incident Thursday involving a 19-year-old.
Douglas County sheriff’s deputies responded around 2 a.m. to a fight between two men at the Bloomington West Campground in the 1200 block of East 600 Road, said George Diepenbrock, a spokesperson with the sheriff’s office.
Deputies spoke to a large group of campers in the area and determined that the fight had started after a 19-year-old woman alleged that a man had committed sexual battery against her at the campground and at a bar. The fight that deputies initially responded to is still under investigation, Diepenbrock said.
Pagan was booked into the Douglas County Jail around 4 a.m., according to the jail’s booking log.
During Pagan’s first court appearance on Thursday, he said he intended to hire an attorney. Judge Blake Glover ordered a $20,000 own-recognizance bond for Pagan and scheduled him to next appear in court on Tuesday.
