A Eudora man has been charged in Douglas County District Court after he allegedly chased two teenagers into a Lawrence house and threatened them with a knife.

Deven Antonio Ryan, 18, faces two felony counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, one felony count of aggravated burglary and one misdemeanor count of battery, according to charging documents.

The charges stem from an incident on Oct. 22, when Lawrence police responded to a report of battery in the 2700 Block of Winterbrook Drive around 4:45 p.m. Two teenagers, ages 15 and 16, told police that they were being dropped off at a house when another car pulled in behind them, said Laura McCabe, spokesperson with the Lawrence Police Department.

The teens said they recognized the three men who were in the car that pulled in behind them and the teens attempted to hurry into the house when the men allegedly followed them and forced their way inside. An altercation ensued and a weapon was displayed but not used, McCabe said. No injuries were reported.

The other men have not been charged and were not named in Ryan’s charging document.

Ryan was arrested at his home in Eudora around 8:20 that night by Lawrence police. He is currently being held on a $25,000 cash or surety bond, according to the Douglas County Jail booking log. He is next scheduled to appear in court on Nov. 1 for a scheduling conference.

The Journal-World has requested Ryan’s booking photo from the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office.
