The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office asked the public for help on Thursday locating a man wanted for eluding police.

Andrew Joseph Drake, 19, of Lawrence, has two warrants for failure to appear in court to face felony and misdemeanor charges of eluding police from two separate incidents in 2021, according to a post on social media from the office.

Drake is charged with one felony count of flee and elude by engaging in reckless driving for an incident on Aug. 25, 2021, and one misdemeanor count of flee and elude from an incident on Sept. 8, 2021, according to charging documents.

Drake was last in custody after an arrest for the charges on April 21 and was released on a $2,000 own-recognizance bond. Court records indicate that he was late to his last two court appearances for the felony charge. On May 6, he arrived to court two hours late, and a bench warrant had been issued but then canceled. On May 19, he was 35 minutes late to a court appearance on Zoom and received a lecture from Judge Amy Hanley about his attendance. A warrant was issued and then canceled, according to court records.

He was scheduled to be in court on June 24 but failed to appear, and a warrant for his arrest was issued.

The sheriff’s office asks anyone with information about Drake’s location to call 785-843-0250 or Crime Stoppers at 785-843-8477.
