Authorities have named Cole D. Rodenbeek, 39, of rural Lawrence, as the man who died in an accident Saturday near Lecompton.

Douglas County Sheriff’s Office spokesperson George Diepenbrock said Tuesday that the cause and circumstances of the accident were still under investigation.

As the Journal-World reported, one person was killed in the accident that occurred about 10:10 p.m. Saturday in the 700 block of North 2050 Road near Lecompton. The accident was first reported to emergency dispatch by a passerby, Diepenbrock said.

On Tuesday, Diepenbrock identified the vehicle involved as a 2003 Jeep Wrangler. It had rolled over in the ditch, he said, and Rodenbeek was found deceased with the vehicle.

“Deputies are still working to determine the circumstances surrounding the crash,” Diepenbrock said, and they will be submitting an accident report in coming days.
