Lawrence police have released the name of a woman who was found dead last week at the city-run camp for people experiencing homelessness.

The 53-year-old woman was Susan Ford, according to Laura McCabe, a spokeswoman with the Lawrence Police Department.

Ford was found dead Monday in her tent at the campsite by the Kansas River in North Lawrence.

Police have released few details about Ford’s death, but said last week that foul play was not suspected.

Witnesses at the camp told police that they had not heard from Ford since the night of Nov. 19 and went to check on her on Nov. 21. Crime scene investigators found no obvious injuries to Ford when they examined her body, police said. Investigators are awaiting autopsy results to determine a cause of death.
