A Lawrence man has been charged in Douglas County District Court with sexually assaulting a 15-year-old girl after giving her alcohol.

Stephen Tyler Wampler, 27, faces two felony counts of aggravated indecent liberties with a child, one felony count of furnishing alcohol to a minor with intent to commit a crime and one misdemeanor count of contributing to a minor’s misconduct, according to charging documents. The charges relate to an incident on or around July 26, when Wampler is alleged to have given the girl alcohol before having intercourse with her.

Wampler was arrested on Nov. 1 in the 1100 block of North Third Street in Lawrence, according to the Douglas County Jail’s booking log.

Wampler is represented by defense attorney Dakota Loomis. He is being held on a $75,000 cash or surety bond and is next scheduled to appear in court on Nov. 30 for a scheduling conference, according to court records.

The Journal-World has requested Wampler’s booking photo from the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office.
