Emergency crews work the scene where a teenage driver was rescued from a flipped truck in the 1000 block of East 251 Diagonal Road on the west side of Clinton Lake on May 5, 2022.
A 16-year-old driver was taken to the hospital Thursday after a rollover accident in Douglas County.
Around 3 p.m., a driver noticed that a truck had flipped over into a field in the 1000 block of East 251 Diagonal Road, on the west side of Clinton Lake, said George Diepenbrock, a spokesman for the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office.
The driver who saw the truck contacted emergency services, and Lawrence-Douglas County Fire Medical responded to the scene, where they removed the boy from the truck and took him to Stormont Vail hospital in Topeka with injuries that were not life threatening, Diepenbrock said.
The cause of the accident is still under investigation, but according to a preliminary investigation it is believed that the driver was headed north, crossed the center line, then flipped over into the field, Diepenbrock said.
