Lawrence man charged with multiple counts of child pornography

A Lawrence man has been charged with multiple counts of possessing and sharing child pornography.
The man, James D. Kaberline II, 40, was charged Wednesday with four counts of internet trading in child pornography, a level 5 person felony, and four counts of sexual exploitation of a child by possessing media of a child under the age of 18, also a level 5 person felony, according to charging documents.
Each felony count could come with a sentence of up to 55 months, according to Kansas sentencing guidelines.
Kaberline was arrested around 7:20 a.m. Tuesday and had his first appearance in Douglas County District Court Wednesday afternoon, when a bond was set at $20,000, according to court records.
Kaberline bonded out of jail around 5 p.m. Wednesday and is required to wear a GPS ankle monitoring device, according to the jail booking log. A preliminary hearing has been set for March 29.
The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office declined to release Kaberline’s booking photo.
