A Eudora man was formally charged with rape Wednesday in Douglas County District Court.

The man, Derek Sean Conner, 33, was charged with one count of rape, a level one felony, in connection with an incident on Jan. 23, when Conner is alleged to have sexually assaulted a 26-year-old who was incapable of giving consent, according to charging documents.

Conner was arrested by Douglas County sheriff’s deputies on a warrant around 5 p.m. Tuesday and was released later that evening on a $75,000 bond, according to the jail booking log. It is unclear when his next court appearance is for the rape charge, but he is scheduled for a plea hearing on July 7 for an unrelated misdemeanor battery charge, according to court records.

The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office has declined to release his booking photo.
