A woman has been charged with aggravated assault after allegedly pulling a gun on a man in the parking lot of a medical clinic in Baldwin City.
The woman, Starr Wayne Hart, 46, of Overbrook, was formally charged Wednesday in Douglas County District Court with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. The arrest came after an alleged road-rage incident, according to a news release from the Baldwin City Police Department.
Around 10 a.m. Tuesday, officers responded to a reported road-rage incident with weapons at 406 Ames St. in Baldwin City, where the incident ended in a parking lot of LMH Health’s Family Medicine of Baldwin City. A 45-year-old man alleged that a woman had threatened him with a gun, according to the release. The gun was not discharged and no injuries were reported.
Hart was later booked into the Douglas County Jail. During Hart’s first court appearance on Wednesday, Judge Blake Glover set her bond at $4,000. Hart appeared from the jail via Zoom and was shaking and crying throughout the hearing.
“It’s all a lie,” she told the court. “Somebody tried to hurt my daughter and I stopped them,” Hart said. Hart’s husband, who was present in the courtroom, told the judge that an attorney had been retained to represent Hart.
Hart was released later Wednesday on her own recognizance, according to the jail booking log. She is scheduled to appear in court again on June 28.
