Douglas County Sheriff’s Office seeks suspect in early-morning nightclub shooting

The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office is investigating after a shooting was reported early Saturday morning at a rural nightclub.

Sheriff’s office spokesman George Diepenbrock said deputies received a report at about 3:15 a.m. of a shooting at the Outhouse in the 1800 block of North 1500 Road. Diepenbrock said the sheriff’s office suspected that a person was shot during an altercation in the Outhouse parking lot and was taken by a private vehicle to an area hospital for treatment.

Officers with the Lawrence Police Department later recovered the suspect’s vehicle, Diepenbrock said. The Eudora Police Department also assisted in the investigation.

The suspect remained at large on Saturday afternoon, and the sheriff’s office’s investigation is ongoing, Diepenbrock said. Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call the sheriff’s office at 785-843-0250.
