A Lecompton man was arrested after allegations that he swung an ax and a machete at a woman.

The man, Aaron S. Landis, 34, was booked into Douglas County Jail Wednesday on suspicion of aggravated assault.

Douglas County sheriff’s deputies responded to a call around 11:30 a.m. Wednesday in the 300 block of North 1600 Road. The deputies interviewed witnesses, and a 46-year-old woman alleged that Landis swung at her with an ax and a machete, said spokesperson George Diepenbrock with the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies searched the property, found the ax and machete and arrested Landis, Diepenbrock said. No injuries were reported.

A bond has not been set for Landis, according to the jail booking log.

According to the Kansas Department of Corrections, Landis is currently under intensive supervision with Community Corrections in Douglas County, following 2019 convictions for aggravated intimidation of a witness, which is a level 6 person felony, and domestic battery. He was sentenced to 18 months of prison and 24 months of probation, according to Douglas County Court records.
