A Lawrence man previously convicted of sexual assault in Douglas County has been indicted by a federal grand jury in Wisconsin for an alleged sexual assault of a girl under the age of 12 on the Menominee Indian Reservation.

Gerald Lavern “Doon” Pamaska, 54, originally from Keshena, Wisconsin, is charged with one count of sexual assault of a child, according to charging documents from the U.S. District Court of Eastern Wisconsin. The charge is in connection with an incident on July 25, 2019, on the Menominee Indian Reservation.

Pamaska is currently in custody at the Douglas County Jail after he was arrested on Wednesday for failure to appear at a sentencing hearing on Nov. 29. He was scheduled to be sentenced for a felony violation of the Kansas Offender Registration Act. He is being held without bond and has a hold from the U.S. Marshals Service, according to the jail booking log.

Pamaska is a registered sex offender and was convicted in Douglas County in November 2019 after entering a no contest plea to aggravated sexual battery. Judge Stacey Donovan sentenced him to 36 months in prison for the charge that she then suspended to 36 months of probation, according to court records.

As the Journal-World previously reported, Pamaska was accused of sexually assaulting a woman at Cheers Liquor, 1414 W. Sixth St. on Aug. 28, 2019.
