A Eudora woman has been charged with a third DUI and multiple counts of assault after allegedly hitting a Eudora police car and other vehicles while leading police on a chase going the wrong direction on Kansas Highway 10.
The woman, Cody Lee Cullen, 42, faces four felony counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, one felony count of aggravated battery, felony DUI, transporting an open container and driving with a suspended license, according to charging documents.
The charges are in connection with an incident around 7:40 p.m. Monday when Cullen allegedly led Eudora police and Douglas County sheriff’s deputies on a chase going eastbound in a westbound lane of K-10 between the exits of East 1900 Road and North 1400 Road near Eudora, said George Diepenbrock, a spokesperson for the sheriff’s office. During the pursuit Cullen is alleged to have hit multiple vehicles, including a Eudora police car.
Cullen was arrested around 8:30 p.m. Monday and is being held in the Douglas County Jail on a $30,000 cash or surety bond. She is represented by defense attorney Jerry Wells and is next scheduled to appear in court on Dec. 13 for a status update.
Cullen was convicted of her second DUI offense and of tampering with an ignition interlock device in Douglas County in 2016, but court records were not clear as to when she received her first DUI charge.
The office has asked anyone who witnessed the chase or had to avoid a collision in connection with the incident to contact the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office at 785-841-0007 and leave contact information referencing the case number D22-24911.
The Journal-World has requested Cullen’s booking photo.
