A Lawrence man has been charged in Douglas County District Court with multiple crimes after allegedly threatening two teenagers with a knife and taking a skateboard.
The man, Timothy James Shoulderblade, 30, is charged with two felony counts of aggravated assault, one felony count of robbery and one misdemeanor count of battery, according to charging documents. Shoulderblade is listed as transient in the jail’s booking log.
The charges relate to an incident on Thursday, when police were called around 11:15 p.m. to the intersection of Eighth and Massachusetts streets, where two teenagers reported that a man had taken a skateboard, said Lawrence police spokesperson Laura McCabe.
The witnesses reported that two men had approached them while they were skateboarding and asked them to do some tricks. One of the teenagers did a trick on the skateboard but then the man showed the teens a large hunting knife and punched one of them in the face before leaving the scene and taking the skateboard, McCabe said.
Shoulderblade was arrested in the 900 block of Massachusetts Street shortly thereafter. He is being held at the Douglas County Jail on a $25,000 bond, and his next court date is scheduled for Aug. 30.
