A Lawrence man has been charged in Douglas County with soliciting a teenager to perform sexual acts.

The man, Jalil Lynn Brown, 29, is facing five counts of exploitation of a child by promoting a sexually explicit performance, one count of aggravated indecent liberties and one count of electronic solicitation. All of the charges are high-level felonies.

The alleged events occurred sometime between March 2021 and January 2022, according to charging documents from the court. The victim is said to have been between 14 and 16 years old at the time.

The documents list records from Snapchat and the file-sharing service Dropbox as witnesses in the case.

Brown was booked into the Douglas County Jail on Thursday around 9 a.m. He is being held on a $100,000 bond. He is scheduled for a first appearance in court on Friday afternoon.
