A Lawrence man is facing multiple charges of possessing child pornography.

The man, Caleb William Deines, 25, has been charged with 10 felony counts of sexual exploitation of a minor, according to charging documents filed with Douglas County District Court.

The alleged crimes occurred on or around Feb. 15, 2021, according to the charging documents, which were filed on April 5.

Witnesses listed in the documents include records keepers from Dropbox Inc., Google and the National Center For Missing & Exploited Children.

Deines was arrested around 8 a.m. Friday and was released about an hour later on a $25,000 bond, according to the Douglas County Jail booking log. He is scheduled for a bond appearance on April 28.

No additional details about the alleged crimes were available Monday.

Deines was listed online — up until Monday afternoon — as a full-time employee who worked as the visitor services manager at the downtown visitors center for Explore Lawrence, the convention and visitors bureau for the city. When reached by phone Monday, Deines said he no longer works for Explore Lawrence, and said he had no comment about the charges against him. When reached Monday, Kim Anspach, executive director of Explore Lawrence, said Deines’ employment with Explore Lawrence had ended recently. She declined to comment further on the circumstances surrounding the end of his employment, citing personnel privacy policies.
