The Douglas County District Attorney’s Office has launched a new tool to share data related to local criminal cases.
The DA’s office announced in a news release this week that it has created a dashboard showing various data, such as the type of charges, whether they are misdemeanor or felony cases and the age, gender and race of defendants, among other data. It also shows specific data for sex, domestic violence, drug and juvenile offenses.
District Attorney Suzanne Valdez said the dashboard was part of her goal to operate the office in a transparent manner.
“Transparency and accountability are among the core values of this office,” Valdez said in the news release. “In addition to providing this data to the public, we will examine this information internally to better understand our impact on the criminal justice system.”
The dashboard can be found on the county’s website, douglascountyks.org/depts/district-attorney/data-dashboard. The DA’s office said it would be updated weekly.
