Lawrence police searching for female suspect in Bank of America robbery

Law enforcement officers are searching for a female suspect reportedly involved in the robbery Thursday at Bank of America in central Lawrence.

The robbery was reported Thursday afternoon at the branch at 900 Ohio St. Lawrence officers were seen placing police tape around the bank’s property shortly after 3 p.m. and closing the alleyway between the bank and the adjacent building to the east.

Dixon Land, a spokesman for the FBI, said the suspect is a woman who is approximately 5 feet 3 inches tall and of average build, wearing a leopard-print ball cap and a black face mask. He said the woman was described as having long, dark, straight hair and was dressed in all black. She also wore black and gray gloves and carried a pink tie-dyed bag.

Land said the woman approached the counter of the bank and gave the teller a demand note. She allegedly claimed to have a weapon but did not display one. She then left on foot heading north with an undisclosed amount of money.

Land said no injuries were reported in the incident.
