A Lawrence man is facing an allegation of attempted murder for a reported stabbing Sunday in a city park.

Lawrence police arrested Katroy D. Jenkins, 27, around 3 p.m. Sunday on suspicion of attempted first-degree murder after responding to a call at Burcham Park, which is located northwest of downtown Lawrence along the Kansas River.

Patrick Compton, a spokesman for the Lawrence Police Department, said officers found a 46-year-old woman had been “cut with a sharp object.” The woman was taken to the hospital for treatment of serious injuries, but they were not considered to be life-threatening, Compton said.

As of 3 p.m. Monday, Jenkins was still in custody. The Journal-World has requested Jenkins’ booking photo, but has not yet received it from the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office.
