Overland Park man charged with rape in connection with July 2020 incident in Douglas County

An Overland Park man is facing a charge of rape in Douglas County District Court in connection with a July 2020 incident.
Griffin Oxley, 20, was formally charged with the felony during his first appearance in court last week. According to the charging document provided to the Journal-World, Oxley is accused of engaging in nonconsensual sex with an unnamed person through fear or force on July 28, 2020.
Oxley appeared in court on Tuesday, when Judge Kay Huff appointed attorney Josh Luttrell to serve as his counsel.
Oxley was arrested on the charge on May 8, according to the Douglas County Jail booking log. He posted a $45,000 surety bond and is currently not in custody, court records show. The Journal-World has requested the arrest affidavit in the case.
