Emergency crews respond to single-vehicle wreck north of Lawrence

A truck is seen wrecked in the yard of a residence along U.S. 40 Highway, just east of 1600 Road, north of Lawrence on Wednesday, June 2. The Douglas County Sheriff's Office responded to the wreck and closed the road to one lane of traffic.

Emergency crews responded Wednesday morning to what appeared to be a single-vehicle wreck on U.S. 24/40 Highway near the Lawrence Municipal Airport.

A vehicle could be seen flipped over in the yard of a residence along the highway just east of 1600 Road with belongings scattered in the yard. An ambulance was on scene, but it is unclear if the driver or passengers suffered any injuries.

The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office was working the scene, directing traffic through the use of one lane. The Journal-World has reached out to the sheriff’s office to request more information.
