Two brothers from Missouri were both charged with felony offenses for a Sunday morning incident in Lawrence that allegedly included the use of firearms.
Chance Gosewisch, 24, Kansas City, Mo., and Cade Gosewisch, 21, Lee’s Summit, Mo., were formally charged Monday with aggravated assault in Douglas County District Court.
Patrick Compton, a spokesman for the Lawrence Police Department, said officers responded to a call in the 1100 block of Massachusetts Street, near Brothers Bar and Grill, just before midnight on Sunday for a disturbance involving guns. After arriving, the police were told that the two men brandished firearms in a threatening manner at bystanders before shooting into the air and leaving the area.
Lawrence police arrested the brothers shortly after midnight at R Bar and Patio, 610 Florida St., according to the Douglas County Jail booking log.
In court on Monday, two different men were listed as the alleged victims in the separate charges. Judge James T. George ordered the brothers to be barred from returning to 1105 Massachusetts St., which is the address of Brothers Bar and Grill in Lawrence.
George set a $6,000 cash or surety bond for both cases. Both are next scheduled to appear in court on July 20.
