In this file photo from Aug. 4, 2020, a Lawrence Police Department patrol vehicle is pictured outside the Douglas County Judicial and Law Enforcement Center.

A 21-year-old Lawrence man was charged with aggravated domestic battery and abuse of a child on Thursday.

Seth A. Watkins, who is in the custody of the Douglas County Jail, was formally charged at his first appearance in Douglas County District Court. Both charges are felonies. He was also charged with misdemeanor domestic battery.

Lawrence Police arrested Watkins at his home around 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, according to the booking log. LPD declined to provide further details about the incident because it is a domestic case involving a child.

Citing an affidavit supporting Watkins’ arrest, Judge James George set a cash or surety bond at $30,000. George also ordered Watkins to wear GPS monitoring and prohibited him from contacting the victims listed in the case or returning to the location of the incident.

Watkins’ next appearance in court is scheduled for March 9.

The Journal-World has requested Watkins’ booking photo, but has not yet received it from the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office.
