Two people were displaced from a second-floor apartment on West 25th Street in Lawrence Saturday.
Two people in Lawrence were displaced from their second-floor apartment Saturday afternoon as a result of a fire.
Lawrence-Douglas County Fire Medical Division Chief Justin Temple said that a passerby called 911 around 2:30 p.m. after noticing smoke on the exterior of a building at 2450 W. 25th St. Temple said firefighters were able to get the fire under control in about 30 minutes.
The two people living in the apartment, who were not home at the time of the fire, were displaced, Temple said. The apartment complex’s management was helping relocate them, he said. There was water damage to the ground-floor apartment immediately below, but the occupants of that apartment were able to return.
Temple said the fire was under investigation, and he did not know the cause or have a damage estimate. No one was injured in the incident, he said.
