Woman killed, 2 injured in 2-car crash Friday east of Perry

One woman was killed and two other people were injured in an accident Friday evening at the intersection of U.S. Highways 24 and 59 in eastern Jefferson County.

According to the Kansas Highway Patrol online crash report, the accident occurred at about 8:50 p.m. Friday at the intersection of the two highways about 4 miles east of Perry.

The Highway Patrol reports the accident occurred when a southbound 2016 Nissan Versa driven by Rebecca S. Krom, 37, of Yakima, Wash., failed to stop at a stop sign at the intersection and was struck by a Chevrolet driven by Sean C. Noel, 27, of Pleasant Valley, Mo., that was eastbound on U.S. 24. Krom was pronounced dead at the scene. Noel and a passenger in the vehicle he was driving, Ashley R. Noel, 26, of Kansas City, Mo., were transported to Stormont Vail Hospital in Topeka with suspected serious injuries.
