A person died after being struck by a vehicle in eastern Lawrence Wednesday morning.

Lawrence police responded to a report of a fatal collision at the 15th Street and Haskell Avenue intersection around 8:30 a.m., Lt. Dave Ernst told the Journal-World. Officers determined that a person was either riding or pushing a bike in that area and was hit by a vehicle that was eastbound on 15th Street.

The person who was hit was pronounced dead at the scene. Police closed the intersection for several hours as officers investigated the incident.

Police have not yet identified the person who died. Ernst said Wednesday afternoon that investigators were still working to notify their family in the incident.

Ernst said the incident was still under investigation.
